ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL BEGINS OPERATION IN TAMALE

After years of planning, the Allied Health Professions Council has successfully opened and commenced operations in its Zonal office in Tamale.

This new development is a major step in the direction of opening up more zonal offices in the Country to ease the burden on the Council’s only office in Accra which has hitherto, been the only access point to Allied Health Professionals.

The AHPC intends to open zonal offices in about eight (8) regions in total by the end of the year. At the rate of the Council’s growth, this is considered a very achievable feat.

It is the Council’s greatest expectation that operations in Tamale would also help filter the system of quacks in the region by ensuring that only qualified and certified professionals are allowed to operate within the sector to provide commendable services as mandated by law.

The office has been set up to minimize the cost incurred and the distance covered by Allied Health Professionals trying to access services of the Council, and to serve Northern Ghana until the emergence of other branches.

The Registrar of the Council, Dr. Samuel Yaw Opoku, has seen the need for the Council to extend its activities to the remotest parts of the Country. In that regard, it has become one of his most urgent purposes to carry the Council to the doorsteps of the people that he is obligated by law to regulate.

The clients’ needs have become the Council’s foremost priority.
