How Often Do You Eat on the Medifast Diet?

0 13

I get asked this question quite often. People will often do a little research and learn that they need to eat five of the Medifast meals each day, plus one of the larger “lean and green meals” (which most people often prepare for themselves). You wonder what that means for your daily routine.

Yes, you eat six times a day in total. Although there are no set requirements for the times of meals you eat in order to achieve this, many people eat every few hours or so. But many people ponder this schedule before actually attempting it. But it’s not as hard as it sounds, and there’s good reason for that. Eating frequently keeps you less hungry, keeps energy and blood sugar levels up, and supports your body as it transitions into ketosis (or fat-burning mode). In the following article, I’ll give you an example of what to eat and when to give you an idea of what life on Medifast might be like.

I often have breakfast before work at 7:30 am. I usually use oatmeal or the eggs. If I’m in a hurry, I wrap the eggs in a fat-free tortilla so I can eat them on the go. My work dictates that I’m very busy in the mornings and things don’t really slow down until around 10:30am. Then I usually eat my morning snack. Since the morning is my busiest time, I usually have a bar because it’s so convenient and quick.

Lunch is usually one of the soups and I prefer the chili. I like it because I can put it in a wrapper (like the eggs) and be on my way. I eat lunch around 1:00 p.m. I often go for a little walk with co-workers to add a little extra calorie burn to my day. Then I don’t think about this diet anymore until I have my afternoon snack around 3:00 p.m. If I’m in a hurry, I usually grab one of the ready-to-drink shakes. If I have time to sit down and enjoy my snack, I might choose the brownies or the pudding.

At work I have access to a refrigerator and a small kitchen. But you can prepare your Medifast meals ahead of time and just take them with you when you’re restricted at work at school. I usually eat my “lean and green food” for dinner. I just find it easier since dinner is the only time of day I have time to cook a meal. Also, I’m cooking for my family right now. But I think I have to mention that you could always have your Lean and Green, which would turn out to be best for you. If I have a work meeting for breakfast or lunch and need to eat at a restaurant, I sometimes change it up so that I eat my main meal at those times.

So so far I’ve eaten four Medifast meals and my lean and green meal. That means I only have one more to go. What I eat for my late-night snack (usually around 7:00 a.m. or so) just depends on my mood. When I’m having a nice workout that night, I sometimes put the Medifast fruit drinks on shaved ice for a snow cone to cool me down. If I just watch TV and relax, I might just have the chips. When I know I won’t be home late at night, sometimes I have that sixth meal early in the morning.

In this case, I might drink the cappuccino or latte first thing in the morning when I get up. Then, a few hours later, I move on to breakfast. There are no fixed rules here. Doing what works best for you is fine as long as you eat fairly regularly for energy and eat all five of your meals plus your lean and green meal.
