What do you do for a healthy UNH?

I make UNH healthy through consistent COVID tests and vaccinations.

Do you have any tips for a healthy diet?

A healthy diet is all about balance. It’s important to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables every day, but also to eat the things that you enjoy every now and then. Groceries like bread, chocolate, and chips are fine!

Have you made any noticeable improvements in exercise or physical activity through positive changes in your life?

I used to be very active in high school, running cross country and playing basketball and softball. When I got to college I struggled to find time to exercise as much as I wanted, but I’ve since figured out how to manage my time and hit the gym in the mornings when I can. I love working out in the morning because it really wakes me up and makes me feel good all day.

Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burned out from this pandemic?

First, you are not alone! It’s okay to feel burned out, it’s been an insanely stressful couple of years. This pandemic has certainly pushed us to our limits, but it has definitely taught us strength, perseverance and hope. I think we all came out of it with new passions and strengths.

What are you doing to improve your emotional wellbeing?

I enjoy listening to music, meditating, reading a book, basically anything that can distract me from things that are worrying me. I’ve learned that it’s okay to step back and take a break when I feel overwhelmed.

What does health mean to you?

For me, health means being in contact with my mental / emotional well-being as well as my physical well-being. Most of the time, when one is out of whack, it affects the rest of me as well.

In the past year, have you felt more comfortable standing up for yourself in health care?

I would say I felt more comfortable. I think it’s important to be completely open with my doctor so it’s nice to have one that I can trust.
