What Is Radiation About?

0 96

Radiation is a type of energy and it has many great uses in our world. However, there are times when people are exposed to too much radiation and that affects their body. Radiations can alter a person’s DNA and kill tissue cells that they need. You may not be aware of it but a certain amount of radiation is likely found in various environments where you frequent. Yet in these small amounts it doesn’t pose any type of risk to you.

There are studies that link exposure to radiations to birth defects, brain tumors, and other types of medical problems. There have been issues in the past where chemical plants and other forms of industry have tried to cover up the amount of radiation that employees and community members were exposed to. Under the guidelines of the Federal government such behaviors are no longer acceptable and radiation levels are closely monitored.

There are limits to the amount of radiations that can be in the air. These are enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency. There are still many unknown factors about radiation so it continues to be a threat out there. Controlling it and the release of it into the environment is the responsibility of owners of factories and plants.
