0 1,858

It’s finally time to ONC 2021 Technology Forum! This year’s Tech Forum will be held virtually in two consecutive Fridays: September 10-17, 2021. * Join us for industry insights on the progress made in healthcare IT over the past year, and how we can continue to advance healthcare technology to improve patient care, healthcare equity, data exchange and interoperability. Speakers from around the country will discuss the ways in which the use of information technology for health supports national needs on topics such as social determinants of health (SDOH), accelerating the exchange of public health data, API based on HL7® Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) adoption, updates to the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) data standards and much more.

Here’s a preview of what’s available for this year’s Tech Forum.

Fight health inequalities

Expect to hear from industry experts how SDOH standards are evolving, the impact of their inclusion in the USCDI and the challenges of SDOH standards, and how healthcare IT is making a difference in healthcare for underserved and underserved communities. .

Quality and interoperability measurement

Automation has made electronic medical record (EHR) -based metrics an invaluable tool for assessing quality. For this to work, the EHR data must be interoperable and standardized. The federal partners will describe their approaches to measuring interoperability, how FHIR helps measure interoperability and quality of healthcare, and what the future of quality measurement will look like.

Interoperability of public health data

Federal, state and local agencies and private sector partners have had a tremendous impact on interoperability over the past year by putting electronic health information and public health data into action to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Partners at the federal and state level will provide their perspective on the identified gaps in public health data interoperability and how those challenges can be addressed through innovations in technology.

Overcoming barriers between care and research

In a health care system that learns, it is crucial that people’s health data is accessible and interoperable throughout the care process, from clinical care to research, and that each individual is actively involved in managing their information. of health. For health data to better inform research, the health IT community has numerous opportunities to examine ways to overcome barriers to data accessibility, data quality, and data collection.

Look out for sessions with a variety of academic and private sector experts who will shed light on some of the barriers still facing the intersection of care and research, and come up with solutions to meet those challenges head-on.
