The Importance of Medical Cards

If you are hospitalized in an emergency situation, you will be asked about your medications, allergies, medical history, etc. If you have a medical card with you, it can speak volumes about your physical condition. Health insurance vouchers are useful when visiting a hospital, outpatient clinic, pharmacy or traveling abroad.

Today, thousands of people are hospitalized in emergency situations. At the time of admission, most of them are unconscious or unable to share their medical history with hospital staff. As a result, the doctor may be missing important information about the patient’s other medical issues that need to be considered in the current treatment. Medical Cards support healthcare professionals such as paramedics, pharmacists and dentists by providing them with the patient’s medical information in urgent situations. They guarantee the immediate availability of the medication you are taking at the time of a medical emergency, wherever you are and whatever the situation:

  • name and adress
  • Date of birth
  • Three emergency contacts with their phone numbers
  • Names and telephone numbers of general practitioners
  • Current medications
  • Medical history (including allergies)
  • blood type
  • Date of issue (map should always be kept up to date)
  • GP details

It is also recommended that older people in particular carry a medical information card with them as they are most likely to be taking multiple medications. The ID cards are also useful when provided to young children as it is easy to find their parents if they get lost.

This ID card is made of strong, durable plastic material with enough space to write personal information with a pen or marker. It should preferably be laminated and heat sealed.
