Another smoking weapon has been found at the origin of COVID-19, courtesy of newly leaked documents released by the DRASTIC research group or the decentralized radical autonomous search team investigating COVID-19.
Documents include a March 2018 grant application submitted by the EcoHealth Alliance to the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to work with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) to resolve “advanced and dangerous human pathogenic bat coronavirus – to conduct research “.1
The proposal was reportedly rejected by DARPA because it was too risky, but the revelations undermine Dr. Anthony Fauci, who refused to fund gain-of-function research (GOF) at the WIV.2 and Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance, who claims that SARS-CoV-2 may have come from a “conspiracy theory” laboratory.3
DARPA rejected the risky research proposal
According to DRASTIC, the proposal rejected by DARPA involved “injecting deadly chimeric bat coronaviruses collected by the Wuhan Institute of Virology into humanized and” batified “mice,” aiming to “coax the potential for novel SARS to spill over.” to defuse high zoonotic risk from bats ”. -related coronaviruses in Asia. “4th As reported by Newsweek:5
“Thanks to DRASTIC, the world now knows that the Wuhan Institute of Virology had an extensive collection of coronaviruses gathered in bat caves over many years of foraging, and that many of them – including the closest known relative of the SARS pandemic virus – CoV- 2 – came from a mine shaft in which three men died of a suspected SARS-like disease in 2012.
It knows that the Institute has been actively working with these viruses using inadequate security protocols in ways that could have started the pandemic, and that the laboratory and Chinese authorities went to great lengths to hide these activities. “
The EcoHealth Alliance asked DARPA $ 14 million for an estimated 3.5-year project. However, DARPA rejected the proposal – despite saying the project got off to a “good ongoing start” and citing “several weaknesses” including “concerns that vaccine approaches may not have sufficient epitope coverage to be effective against the diverse and self to protect the developing quasi-species of the many ”. Coronaviruses found in the bat caves. “6th
Although DARPA rejected the grant application and refused funding from the EcoHealth Alliance and WIV,7th it doesn’t mean that the research wasn’t ultimately done. As the Daily Mail put it, “The $ 14.2 million (£ 10.5 million) grant offer was turned down. But has another donor taken up the suggestion? This at least proves that the researchers were playing with exactly the kind of risky science that could have invented a virus eerily similar to the one behind the pandemic. “8th
Proposal included finding a novel furin cleavage site
In order to be able to penetrate your cells, SARS-CoV-2 must first bind to an ACE2 or CD147 receptor on the cell. Next, the S2 spike protein subunit must be proteolytically cleaved (cut). Without this protein cleavage, the virus would simply bind to the receptor and get stuck.
“The furin site is why the virus is so transmissible and why it invades the heart, brain and blood vessels,” explained Dr. Steven Quay, a doctor and scientist, on a subcommittee on oversight and reform of the GOP house on the selected coronavirus crisis listening.9
While furin cleavage sites exist in other viruses such as Ebola, HIV, Zika, and yellow fever, they do not occur naturally in coronaviruses. The entire group of coronaviruses that SARS-CoV-2 belongs to does not contain a single example of a furin cleavage site, Quay said, and is a big reason why many believe SARS-CoV-2 was created through GOF research.
In a breathtaking turn of events, research by DRASTIC found that the EcoHealth Alliance’s 2018 proposal included the introduction of human-specific cleavage sites for bat coronavirus. As noted by The Intercept:10
“[T]he proposal describes the process of finding new furin cleavage sites in bat coronaviruses extracted by the scientists and inserting them into the spines of SARS-related viruses in the laboratory.
“We will introduce suitable human-specific cleavage sites and the growth potential in [a type of mammalian cell commonly used in microbiology] and ‘HAE cultures’, which refer to cells found in the lining of the human respiratory tract, the proposal states.
COVID-19 Lab Origin: “A threshold has been exceeded”
A number of scientists speaking to The Intercept told the news agency that the information on furin cleavage revealed in the 2018 proposal was the decisive factor in finding the origins of COVID-19. The scientist Alina Chan said:
“A kind of threshold has been crossed… Let’s look at the big picture: In Wuhan, a new type of SARS coronavirus with a new type of cleavage point is emerging. We now have evidence that they proposed inserting new interfaces into novel SARS-related viruses in their laboratory in early 2018. That definitely makes the difference for me. And I think it should do the same for many other scientists. “
Earlier, Richard Ebright, Board of Governors Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers University and Laboratory Director at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology, said that additional documents released through a FOIA lawsuit undoubtedly show that NIH grants were used, to fund GOF research on WIV, and that Fauci lied about it:11
“The documents make it clear that claims by NIH Director Francis Collins and NIAID Director Anthony Fauci that the NIH did not support gain-of-function research or the potential amplification of pandemic agents in Wuhan are not true are.
Much of the controversial research was carried out by the EcoHealth Alliance. Fauci told a budget subcommittee that the EcoHealth Alliance, which passed the money to WIV over a five-year period, had been given more than $ 600,000 to screen for bat coronavirus and see if it was spreading could be transmitted to humans.12th,13 Regarding the latest documents uncovered by DRASTIC, Ebright told The Intercept:14th
“The meaning of this is that SARS Cov-2, the pandemic virus, is the only virus in its entire genus of SARS-related coronaviruses that contains a fully functional cleavage site at the S1, S2 junction [the place where two subunits of the spike protein meet] … And here is a proposal from the beginning of 2018 that specifically suggests developing this sequence at this position in chimeric, laboratory-generated coronaviruses. “
32 emails – almost every word blacked out
The UK Daily Mail also received important documents – 32 emails in total – that could shed light on a secret conference call between UK and US health officials at the start of the pandemic on February 1, 2020. But the emails about a FOIA request were almost completely blacked out.fifteen
The call was organized by Fauci and Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust, attended by Patrick Vallance, UK’s chief scientific advisor, and others, “to address several aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 genome suggestive of artificial origin . by generating adaptive changes through passage and / or direct manipulation of the genome. “16
Charles Rixey, a COVID-19 analyst who crawled 100,000 pages of FOIA documents and reviewed more than 1,000 research articles, said:17th
“[C]Completely obscured is the fact that at least one, and very likely all, of the conference call participants knew about the existence of the FCS … It’s even worse when you consider that 18 months later they still can’t explain it – the proximals refuse to give up To respond to the fact that the FCS does not exist within the Sarbecovirus subgenus that SARS-CoV-2 falls under.
This is a problem because members of the subgenus are too diverse to recombine with the varieties of SARS-like viruses from other branches that contain the FCS. “
The “Proximals” that Rixey refers to are the five editors of “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2”.18th a paper published in Nature Medicine in March 2020 that became outstanding “evidence” that SARS-CoV-2 has a natural origin and that it cannot possibly come from a laboratory.
It was later revealed that Fauci, Farrar and Dr. Francis Collins, NIH director, was involved in the work when one of the authors emailed the 6th tour. “19th
Has Pivotal Call changed the pandemic narrative?
January 2020, virologist Kristian Andersen – one of the proximals whose paper found the virus couldn’t have been made in a laboratory – Fauci emailed Farrar, stating, “The unusual features of the virus make up a really small part of the virus Genome (<0.1%) so you have to look very carefully at all the sequences to see that some of the features (possibly) look like they were designed. "20th
It was clear that when Andersen and others called on Feb. 1, they thought the virus looked constructed. According to the Daily Mail:21
“He [Andersen] said the binding mechanism “looked too good to be true, like a perfect key to entry into human cells,” while its furin cleavage site – a feature not found in and enabling it to do with similar types of coronavirus to enter human cells efficiently – would be expected. if someone tried to adapt an animal coronavirus to humans by taking and inserting certain genetic material from another location.
Farrar opened the discussion, which was then chaired by Andersen and Eddie Holmes, an Australia-based virologist, who told the Wellcome boss prior to the call that he was 80% sure this thing came from a lab. But after their conference call, the same experts played a leading role in efforts to dismiss such fears as conspiracy theories in science magazines and on social media. “
The Daily Mail requested emails, notes or transcripts related to the February 1 call, as well as from WIV or Shi Zhengli, Ph.D., the director of the WIV Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, aka “Bat Woman”, but the government declined the request on “cost” after saying, “We have the information you requested.”22nd
This, along with the heavily edited emails and the abrupt change in scientists’ minds about the origins of COVID-19, “raises an obvious question,” said Bob Seely, a member of the foreign affairs committee. “Just like with China’s secrecy: why shouldn’t officials give out such information if there was nothing to hide?”23
