What do you do for a healthy UNH?
I motivate myself and others to stay active, prioritize mental health, and develop routines that create positive daily habits.
Do you have any tips for a healthy diet?
Plan your meals and get creative with recipes! Every week before I go shopping I make a list of possible meals that I can prepare with my ingredients so that none of them go to waste and I always have a healthy meal to cook instead of snacks or eat out.
Have you made any noticeable improvements in exercise or physical activity through positive changes in your life?
Since I started prioritizing the gym and creating beneficial workouts, physical activity has become more positive than negative. I plan and create workouts in advance so that when I hit the gym I know exactly what to do and I don’t feel lost.
Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burned out from this pandemic?
It’s okay to feel completely drained, but the pandemic has also created an opportunity to start over and create a new routine! Feel yourself into a new routine and at some point it will return to your normal routine!
What are you doing to improve your emotional wellbeing?
Balance the time for myself, but also the time with my loved ones and friends, stay busy and active, but also take time to relax and remember that every day is a new beginning.
What does health mean to you?
For me, health means doing something every day that will either improve my mental or physical health. Even on a day off, knowing that I did my best to get out of bed and be productive makes me proud and better of myself.
In the past year, have you felt more comfortable standing up for yourself in health care?
Yes, as I’ve gotten older and after the pandemic, I feel more comfortable standing up for myself when I get medical care.
