1. First, think carefully about what I’m going to say in the next sentence. When you fully understand the meaning of it, you will be miles ahead in losing weight while feeling better. Researchers have found that you eat based on five basic instincts – hunger, satiety (meaning how satisfied you feel after eating), availability, familiarity, and variety. So you must have direct or indirect control over these five basic instincts and then you can also control what foods you eat and how much. So the next time you head to the freezer, keep those high-calorie foods out of reach (perhaps even better if you don’t keep them at all) and keep high-fiber foods, fresh vegetables, and non-fat dairy in front of you (based on control via basic instinct #3).

2. The next step would be choosing the right type of food. When you make them a daily part of your life, you build a lifelong healthy lifestyle. Make it a habit to have protein in all the foods you eat and cut down on all foods high in fat and sugar. Start your lunch or dinner with a salad or vegetable soup, and then protein, followed by carbohydrates. Finally eat half a cup of whole grain carbohydrates (like rice, pasta, beans). This will bring you satiety in your food and lose weight while being completely healthy.

3. Eat this type of high-protein food 4-5 times a day with three hours between them and do not eat anything during this time.

4. Learn to calculate how many calories you will consume to reach your next weight loss goal. Suppose you use a calorie calculator to find out that your daily metabolism is 3500 calories. That means your body needs that amount of energy every day to keep going. If you burn 150 calories a day from exercise, add those calories. If you want to lose 2 pounds in a week, you need to eat 100 calories less than your metabolic rate plus exercise calories. So that means you would eat a 1700 calorie meal every day.
