Healthy Eating – Meal Prep Ideas

If you’re like a lot of people, you groan at the thought of making meal prep. Even though you know it’s something you have to do, that doesn’t mean you like it! Meal preparation takes time, but if you only prepare your veggies once for the whole week, for example, you’ll find it easier to eat healthy homemade meals every night. Some foods, some vegetables are easy to prepare in advance and store well. There are steps you can take in your meal planning to make the task easier, and then you’ll find that you spend less time preparing meals and more time enjoying your food!

Let’s look at some meal prep ideas…

1. One recipe, many variations. Perhaps the most important time-consuming task in meal prep is figuring out what to cook in the first place. You need to look for recipes, figure out what works with your weight loss diet, and then buy all the necessary groceries. Time Wasting Stuff!

Instead, look for a recipe that offers multiple variations. For example, you could prepare a stir-fry. You can simply change up the veggies you put in the pan, substitute beef for the chicken to your liking, and even change up the sauce a bit. It’s the same meal overall, but with small changes that should be enough to pique your interest in continuing your weight loss diet plan.

The more you get used to making the same types of meals over and over again, the easier it will be to plan your meal prep for the week.

2. Two words: slow cooker. Slow cooking is super easy and a cooking technique that everyone should learn from time to time. Simply add all the ingredients to the slow cooker in the morning, turn it on and when you get home from work, the meal is ready to serve. Plus, you can make a considerably large batch, meaning you’ll be eating healthy meals several times throughout the week.

3. Buy pre-chopped vegetables. The last idea to consider is buying pre-chopped veggies. Cutting vegetables is often a job people dislike, so make it easy on yourself. Buy them ready to use, so little to no prep work is required.

While you’ll pay a little more for pre-chopped veggies, it’s money well spent.

There you have a few ideas you can use to make meal prep easier. By following these tips, sticking to your weight loss diet will be easier than ever.
