GERD is also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease or acid reflux and is mainly caused when the valve between the stomach and esophagus becomes weak and stays open for a long time, allowing acid in the stomach to flow back into the esophagus. This phenomenon can cause the liquid contents of the stomach to be pumped back and damage the mucous membrane.

The following are the main symptoms of GERD / acid reflux

  • Belching or misfire of the food eaten
  • heartburn
  • Nausea
  • Chest pain
  • Eructation
  • Pain when swallowing food
  • Water showers
  • headache

Generally speaking, GERD is a lifestyle disease. When your diet includes more junk foods, processed meats, and frozen foods, the problem of acid reflux can occur. These processed and junk foods with added preservatives can create toxins (ama) in the body that lead to GERD. Your irregular eating habits and timing can also make the situation worse.
