Getting older is an inevitable part of the life process. It doesn’t have to be destructive, however, and you can keep fit as you age. Keeping fit as you get older delays aging and keeps its deteriorating effects at bay. Here are a few tips on how to stay fit and healthy.

In old age it is important to eat a balanced diet in order to stay fit. A balanced diet is one that provides your body with all the nutrients it needs to function properly.

Cut from junk food. Junk food contains bad nutrients and is high in sugar. This can lead to unhealthy weight gain. Obesity can lead to serious health complications that lead to morbidity. The prevalence of various medical complications such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, urinary incontinence and various types of cancer are associated with obesity in old age.

Therefore, it is recommended to avoid foods high in sugar such as cakes, cookies and donuts. For a balanced diet, get most of your daily energy from fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
