You know how people are always on a diet? And everyone knows that the moment they stop the diet, the weight comes right back — maybe with a few extra pounds. Most people would like to lose weight once and keep it forever.
Yes you can.
I’m here to tell you, STOP DIETING! Why? Because food matters. It’s not something we should withhold from ourselves. Rather, we should consume food in the right amount, with balanced nutrients, at the right time, according to our own body’s specific needs and tastes.
Is it really that simple? Yes. We know it because we see it all the time. After we’ve taught people to eat, they’ve told us their cholesterol has gone down 70 points, or their triglycerides have gone down 70 points, or they’ve gone from pre-diabetic to no signs of diabetes, their pants are too big, and their knees have stopped are in pain, or they sleep through the night, their blood pressure has dropped, they take less medication, they have more energy – sometimes in as little as 28 days – and all they’ve done is eat right.
Most people don’t really want to suck their meals through a straw. Neither should they – unless they prepared the food themselves, right. And most people want something that’s easy. Well, what could be easier than eating food? You’re going to eat anyway, so why not eat right?
We attribute a lot of drama to food. Some of them are useful when we celebrate with them, for example, or we simply enjoy its taste and smell. Some of these aren’t as useful as blame and reward. But what if we look at food as information for a moment? For the body, it’s just that: information the brain uses to grow, repair, and maintain the body. The brain sends each molecule to where it’s needed, in the amounts and at the times it’s needed, like fat molecules to the brain to rebuild cells or carbohydrates to muscles to fuel movement. Every single molecule you put in your mouth plays a role in creating your health and your body composition. We really are what we eat.
The nutritional choices you made 3 months ago determined the state of your current batch of red blood cells! And the choices you make today create your future bones, skin, and organs.
Food is powerful. It’s medicine. You’re the one. Learn to eat right and you will be in charge. You don’t have to go on a “diet” anymore. Instead you will own a diet.
