Public health reforms announced in March Go into operation on October 1st. At this point, the PHE will put its health protection functions into the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and health improvement / health health functions in the Office for Health Promotion and Disparities (OHID), NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE / I) and NHS Digital. The NHS test and trace functions will become part of the UKHSA.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the focus of PHE’s social media channels and this blog, as well as the content that most people deal with, has been on our updates on the COVID-19 dashboard, monitoring data, information on variants, COVID-19 vaccines and a wide range of other COVID-19-related research and safety messages.
In order to ensure the continuity of this work and reach the widest possible audience, we will be renaming the PHE social media channels and this blog to UKHSA instead of discontinuing the channels.
After work on renaming the channels, we will continue to promote key COVID-19 messages from UKHSA (including the work of NHS Test and Trace) and set out UKHSA’s broader vision and priorities.
