I think we all eat ourselves to death, I understand we all die but we’re not really living to our full potential mainly due to our eating habits. Never in human history have we seen far more obesity, diseases, syndromes and so on than at this very moment. Is it all because of the food? No, although, is a big part, and if you’ll give me some time I’ll try my best to explain why that is in an easy-to-understand way.
We all live in an instant gratification and microwave culture. If it isn’t quick, simple and easy now, then it really is yesterday. Although, at what cost exactly?
I can produce an entire publication on all the “stuff” they put in processed or so-called fast foods, but I don’t want to bore you to death with the scientific names and what can harm your body. Instead, let me simplify this for you and point out that if processed in any way, it’s not healthy at all and very likely bad for you!
What exactly is processed food and why is it so bad for you?
Does it come in a tin, a sealed container, a sealed bag, or is it ready-made? If so, it will be processed. This is the vast majority of groceries you get at the supermarket! Take a look next time you happen to be in the shop and you’ll find that to be true.
Now for the main reason why it can be so bad for you. In order for this food to last long, keep the right color, and never pick up all the harmful bacteria associated with preserving food for a long time, a LONG list of chemicals is added to this food. Many of these chemical compounds are known to have very serious adverse effects related to the human body. To name a few of these “side effects”: cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tingling, burning, tingling, facial pressure or tightness, chest pain, headache, nausea, rapid heartbeat, lightheadedness, weakness, and difficulty breathing for asthmatics.
Now forget all the “stuff” that gets added. What about the nutritional value? Certainly, because of all the processing, there are little or no nutrients left in these foods! Not only that, BUT the salt levels are usually well above what a human should be consuming!
What about these balanced bran cereals? Are they processed? Without doubt. They contain more sugar than anything else! Your bad blood sugar may not know exactly what to do with all that added insulin it gets from fast or processed foods!
So what is safe and also healthy?
Anything fresh, unprocessed and ideally natural and organic. Plain and simple! Sure, that means a great cup of coffee that you enjoy while reading isn’t very good for you!
Check out your own grocery store. The vast majority of fresh, unprocessed groceries are generally found around the perimeter of the store and not on the islands! This can make shopping a lot easier!
“However, the preparation will take so long!” The most common problem I hear! Well, if you plan it effectively, you can potentially get all your fresh groceries ready in less time than it takes to eat all your fast food throughout the day! Understand that again! My wife and I prepare all of our meals for both of us along with our 2 children within 30 minutes every morning! All fresh, all healthy and all ready to eat all day long!
Simply how much and how often should a person eat? This is also very easy. You should eat something every 2.5 to 3 hours. Before you start yelling at me for suggesting you eat so much, also remember that these meals should be much smaller portions of your normal 3 meals a day. This can equate to about half a dozen meals a day.
What exactly are you going to eat? Also very easy. protein, carbohydrates and fat. Indeed, fat! You need to eat lean meat, skinless chicken or fish for protein. If you are vegan you will find many alternative options. For carbs, you have fruits and veggies. For fat, you should have fish, fish oil capsules, or flaxseed oil.
That’s it! seems boring? Trust me when I tell you it’s not!
