Irvingia gabonensis seed is a botanical or scientific name for African mango seed extract. This seed comes from a unique mango fruit found only in West Africa, specifically in Cameroon.
As a researcher and Cameroonian, I eat what we call ogbono at home (the African mango extract also known as Irvingia gabonensis seeds). For once, while consuming this extract, I was unaware that this seed could provide medicinal benefits. Not until now though.
How is Ogbono consumed in Cameroon?
After the fruit is eaten, the seed is usually dried in the sun for preservation. Then cracked to remove the real Ogbono. They can be ground into a paste known as Gabon chocolate. Because of their high mucilage content, they can be used as a thickening agent in dishes like Ogbono soup. The nuts can also be pressed into vegetable oil.
Most of us in Cameroon just eat it like some kind of soup without really knowing its medicinal properties. But after research at the Medical University of Cameroon, many people began to realize how important “Ogbono” (Irvingia gabonensis) was in their bodies.
This mango extract increases the body’s metabolic rate. The body’s ability to convert fat into energy, resulting in weight loss.
location effects;
I have never experienced any side effects from eating Ogbono. But from my research I have learned that the compressed form of Irvingia gabonensis called African Mango Diet Pills has some side effects, although not as serious. The most common side effects reported include trouble sleeping, headache and gas.
However, there is no clinical or scientific report to decide whether it is safe to use Irvingia gabonensis or African mango diet pill while pregnant or breastfeeding.
