I’m a big fan of freshly squeezed juices. Almost all store-bought juices are chemical-filled, pasteurized, and not fresh at all. Processing lemon juice can seriously affect its health benefits. I like making my own juice because it’s really easy and quick.

Get an electric citrus juicer, they’re very inexpensive. Halve one or two lemons and squeeze them yourself. This way you can also add the pulp, which is a great source of natural fiber, to your juice. I like to add some hot water, it makes the juice easier to drink and it will be closer to your body temperature. It takes me no more than 5 minutes in the morning to prepare my juice. I make it while brewing a nice decaf coffee.

Don’t be tempted to add something else like sugar, honey, or sweeteners to the pure juice and pulp. If you do, then you’re not drinking plain homemade lemon juice and the health benefits I’ve written about here won’t apply. In just a few days, your taste buds will get used to the taste of lemon juice and you’ll have no problem drinking a glass or two a day.

The very first thing I have every morning is freshly squeezed homemade lemon juice with a good splash of hot water. I really enjoy it and wouldn’t go without it, especially now that I know of all the amazing health benefits it gives me.

I like to follow my juice with a glass of warm water, swishing it through my mouth and teeth before swallowing it. That way, I washed away any remnants of the lemon juice from my teeth and gums.
