Child Obesity – Nobody Said Change Was Easy

0 37

Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the US. In the United States, more than 3 million cases of childhood obesity occur each year, which can cause serious health problems. Childhood obesity can cause high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Obese children are often the target of bullying and fat shaming, leading to low self-esteem and depression.

Childhood obesity has become an epidemic in America and the sad part of this story is that it is very treatable without the intervention of a doctor. Children just need their parents to take an active interest in their lives and decide it’s time for a change.

The main causes of obesity are genetics, metabolism, diet and exercise habits. There’s nothing you can do to change your genetic makeup, but you can certainly change your eating and exercise habits. The easiest way is to monitor your kids’ eating habits and hold them accountable. I know from personal experience that kids spend far too much time on devices. I think it’s important to limit screen time and get them to go outside to play and burn off some energy. It’s easy to limit screen time using mobile app technology and a little effort on the part of parents.

How to treat childhood obesity without a doctor? With a simple structured healthy eating plan. Children follow their parents’ instructions about what to eat, so it’s important that parents set a good example of what to eat on a daily basis.

Try using a free mobile app to track their calories and log their exercises to make sure they’re hitting their daily goal. True change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does require parents to set the right expectations for their children. Children learn by example. So if you, as a parent, lead a healthy lifestyle, then chances are your children will too.

Many parents complain that it is too expensive to feed their children healthily. These are usually the same parents who routinely buy fast food across the drive-thru. Eating healthy shouldn’t be time-consuming or expensive. Yes, it’s a lifestyle change, but it’s for longevity YOUR LIFE.

A healthy, balanced meal shouldn’t cost more than ten ($10) dollars a day if you do it right. Remember that healthy weight is achieved 95% through diet and 5% through exercise.
