Five Types of Drug Rehabilitation Facilities •

0 75

If you or someone you love is addicted to drugs or alcohol, the first step to recovery is to admit that there is a problem. Denial can be very powerful, especially when it comes to addiction. A person cannot get the help they need from professionals unless they acknowledge that there is a problem. Once the person has accepted that they need help to overcome their substance abuse, they should seek treatment. Fortunately, modern addiction treatment is diverse and based on both science and compassion. If you or someone you know needs professional addiction treatment, there are several options for rehab centers. You can find five of them below.

Double diagnosis

One of the most important parts of drug addiction treatment is the emphasis on the dual diagnosis. This describes when it has more to do with the person’s mental health than drug use. While the definition of dual diagnosis is that a person has both a Addiction and a mental disorder, dual diagnostic treatment can be used on almost anyone struggling with addiction. It is very common for the person to use drugs or alcohol to escape past trauma or to self-medicate for an illness such as depression or bipolar disorder. It doesn’t matter what they’re addicted to, attending a dual diagnosis rehab facility offers a comprehensive approach to recovery from addiction.

Rehab in other places

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol, changing their surroundings can sometimes be very helpful. This is why many people go to rehab facilities outside of their home state. Not only are there rehab centers across the country that can provide the treatment you need, but it is often a good idea to distance yourself from the others in your life who are also consuming. For example, if you live in a busy place like California or New York, give this a try Georgia or Mississippi rehabs for a slower pace. Find peace and comfort in a new place and begin your healing in a welcoming, calm setting with a slower pace and new sensitivity.

Specialized rehab

There are also drug rehabilitation centers that specialize in drug addictions. If you or your loved one is addicted to heroin, a team is needed that can help them with withdrawal. Detox is different for each drug and can provide insights from health professionals who understand the drug, the addiction to it, and the things the person will go through. Dependence on pills like prescription opioid pain relievers is very common, which makes rehab treatments more responsive. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, in extreme cases even fatal. If you or someone you know is addicted to a particular drug, a look at rehab facilities that specialize in treating the addiction is a good option.

Outpatient rehab

The typical addiction treatment facility is an inpatient rehab where the person has to stay in the facility. This usually takes about a month, long enough to cover the detox and initial treatment, group therapy, and 12-step meetings. Another option is outpatient rehab. While many drug or alcohol addicts benefit from an inpatient facility, this is not possible for everyone. Outpatient rehab allows the person to come every day but sleep at home. Keeping up with treatment is important, but you don’t necessarily have to sleep in the rehab facility to get the help you need.

Long-term rehabilitation

On the other hand, inpatient long-term rehabilitation is also available. This is for someone who needs extensive help keeping drugs and alcohol off. Some people voluntarily stay in a long-term inpatient facility for up to six months. Everyone is different. Each individual needs their own specific and comprehensive treatment plan. Long-term rehab facilities are a great option for anyone in need of help.

Luxury rehab

Finally, for those with a lot of money to spend, one option is luxury rehab. While these facilities are typically for profit companies, they often employ some of the best addiction professionals, psychologists, and counselors. They also offer amenities such as idyllic surroundings, a pool and holistic measures such as yoga, individual therapy and psychiatric treatment. When you have the money to spend and want the best treatment possible, check out some of the many luxury rehab options.

Addiction is not a party. It causes incredible pain to millions of people in the United States and beyond. If you or someone you know needs help getting through their drug and alcohol addiction, checking into specific treatment centers is a good idea. Finding the right drug rehab facility for the person will help them have every chance to begin their recovery.
