Is Autism Treatment Possible?

0 11

Autism is a brain disorder that is usually noticed within the first three years of life. United States statistics show that one in 166 children suffers from it. This condition, which makes it difficult for the person to communicate with others, can be a mild or severe form of autism and has no cure. The only thing that will help them is autism treatment in the form of cognitive behavioral therapies. Research continues to look for ways to support these individuals and their caregivers.

Applied behavior analysis has been used successfully as an integrated system to treat autistic children. As an equal partnership between teachers and parents or carers, the program has a structured model that forms the basis of specific pedagogical methods. Children have one-to-one interaction with teachers, while the safe environment ensures the child can act according to their ability without feeling out of place.

Each person with autism has their own set of symptoms and treatments that work for them. Sometimes they go through a variety of autism treatments to find what works best for them. It is believed that a child who is quickly diagnosed with autism has a good chance of coping with their condition. This is especially true for those with a mild form of the disorder.

Multivitamin and mineral supplement

This is a treatment that has shown great improvement for those who take it. Physicians incorporate multivitamin and/or mineral supplements into the child’s daily diet. The diet is also designed to help treat autism. Noticed changes include improved neurological development and better test performance. This would mean improvements in learning as well as behavioral improvements. Included in these treatments are: magnesium, vitamin B6, niacin, dimethylglycine and vitamin C. A diet low in carbohydrates and sugar is known to benefit children.

medication

There really aren’t any medications that are specifically known to treat autism. Still, some medications are used to improve the symptoms of autism. Some autistic people feel better when they take certain medications, such as stimulants, antipsychotics, and anti-anxiety medications, including medications for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, it is best to consult the child’s attending physician and only use prescription drugs.

alternative therapies

There are several treatments that are innovative as well as alternative therapies that have been introduced and used over the years. An example is stem cell therapy, which has used a person’s bone marrow cells or even animal cells. Other elements used are lyophilisates. Another therapy is the use of oral secretin along with vitamins to help with social problems.

Parents are always looking for the autism treatment that will help their child. Professional doctors who care for the child recommend testing unusual treatments before using them on a child. The search for help continues and not every child or person with autism has the same treatment that works. Finding the right treatment is often a trial and error process for doctors, parents, and patients.
