How 2 Natural, Inexpensive Products Lower Your Blood Pressure

Lowering blood pressure wasn’t the reason I started looking for natural remedies. I was looking for ways to combat the onset of type 2 diabetes. A family member was diagnosed with pre-diabetics and since diabetes is a condition – not a disease – I thought it might be possible to reverse diabetes before it really took hold.

I learned that diabetes occurs when the diet contains too much sugar. One method I learned from a reputable medical source was to add a simple herb to the diet. Cinnamon has been used as a home remedy to cleanse the body of excess sugar as well as a host of other ailments. And as I delved deeper into this research, I learned that when combined with another natural product — pure honey — cinnamon could lower hypertension or high blood pressure to normal levels.

Whenever I want to separate fact from fiction, I turn to the investigative website The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods. Here’s what they say about cinnamon: “Cinnamon’s unique healing powers come from three basic components in the essential oils found in the bark (of cinnamon trees). These oils contain active components called cinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl acetate and cinnamyl alcohol, as well as a wide range of other volatiles,”

The same source tells us that the combination of cinnamon and pure honey is a very healthy home remedy. Honey is said to be a rich source of riboflavin and also vitamin B6. Another benefit of honey is manganese, which isn’t very abundant in the regular diet, and iron is included as a bonus.

Some of honey’s most beneficial properties are easily destroyed when the honey is processed commercially. The moral of this story is to avoid most honey products found on supermarket shelves as this form cooked the life out of it. Pasteurization and filtering tend to destroy the many other good qualities of raw wild honey.

The health benefits depend on the actual quality of the flowers selected by the honey bees during their foraging cycle. Honey contains phytochemicals such as phenylethyl, methyl caffeate and caffeic acid. Scientific research shows that these chemicals have been shown to be useful in preventing colon cancer. Honey’s phytochemicals shut down the activity of harmful substances that produce many carcinogenic compounds.

There are numerous sources on the internet that offer pure honey. Look for the darker honey, which is a great source of phenolic compounds or flavonoids, which offer the added protection of being antioxidants.

Only in recent years have researchers renewed their interest in a honey-cinnamon combo. Compounds containing cinnamon have been used during the treatment of epilepsy and to reduce the effects of the common cold.

The gathering of honey has been going on for almost 10,000 years, so our ancient ancestors must have figured out the value of this golden liquid. Make your own elixir: 2 – tsp. Cinnamon, 1 – tbsp. spoon of honey. Mix in an 8 ounce glass of warm water. drink it down

It can be observed that the cinnamon-honey connection has often been discovered in folklore and traditional medical circles are watching closely because compared to many of today’s miracle cures, honey and cinnamon is definitely an inexpensive recipe for better health.

Of course, I’m not suggesting that you throw all your meds in the bin. Always follow your doctor’s advice. Discuss this with your doctor, and if he strongly disapproves of the use of honey and cinnamon, get a second opinion.
