Baby Boomers: Conquering The Battle Of The Bulge

0 12

Are you ready to tick off this bucket list?

I asked myself this question last year when I was making my list. I realized that one of the things I had to do first was get healthier and fitter so I could do the things I wanted to do on this list. I didn’t want to see the world or have the stamina to participate in the activities that interest me.

For one thing, I plan to see the pyramids and I imagine I’ll be walking a lot for that. Not to mention climbing, diving, building and designing. Oh, I have big plans.

My strategies for a healthier new year

I made the decision to go vegan last year. It was primarily an ethical reason, but the health benefits were undoubtedly worth the effort to do as much research as possible to help me transition from being a pescatarian. I knew I wanted to eliminate dairy and fish from my diet, but only put it off because it involved self-work and some life-changing decisions I wasn’t ready to make. everything happens in its own time, as I have learned.

Eliminating the foods I didn’t want to eat was the first step, so I didn’t keep them in the house. But I also replace them with healthier foods that were not only good for me, but I enjoyed and would satisfy my cravings. And yes, there is delicious vegan ice cream among other goodies suitable for vegans.

I eat lots of organic whole foods, fruits, vegetables, brown rice, and legumes. I didn’t find this difficult at all as I like this type of food. I mainly drink purified water. I stretch and stay flexible with yoga, walk on my treadmill when the weather outside doesn’t allow it, and helped maintain a good exercise regimen throughout the winter months. Gardening alone is a great workout in the summer. I also hula-hoop. It’s super fun and looks adorable and just feels adorable.

I get 8 hours, more when my body wants to sleep. Eating a plant-based diet is a great way to balance your circadian rhythm. I am never depressed and feel that self-love and a mindful state of being have contributed to my overwhelming happiness.

I also lost two kilos a month simply by fasting in between. For example, I stop eating at 7 p.m. and don’t break my fast until 11 a.m. the next day. Just by not eating for 16 straight hours every day, my body has the time it needs to digest my food and give it the break it needs.

It’s just as important to nourish your spirit and give yourself time to be alone to just be.

Expressing my gratitude and meditating at the beginning of each day keeps me focused and my head in the right place. Being vegan and exercising keeps me balanced and in control of my body and keeps me fit.
