HIV/AIDS Cure To Be Available in Ghana in 2020?

The Centre for Awareness (COA), a food supplement marketing firm has predicted a cure for HIV/AIDS by the year 2020.

According to the founder of COA, Dr. Samuel Ato Duncan, the drug has to go through a controlled clinical trial and international standard protocol before it can be made public.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Friday, Dr. Ato Duncan noted that apart from the anti-retroviral approved drugs for the treatment of HIV, Ghana will be the first country in the World to have a cure for AIDS.

“COA FS is expected to be ready by the end of 2020. Ghana should boast of a cure for HIV. It will be a cure not retroviral.

The drug will go through international standard protocols and we will put them through a controlled atmosphere and at the end of the process, the results will confirm that indeed Ghana has a cure for AIDS” he indicated.

Though the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) and the Regional AIDS Committee have ordered COA to stop all adverts on a cure for HIV/AIDS in the media, Dr. Ato Duncan believes their aim is to make sure that at least 90 percent of people living with HIV/AIDS are cured.

He indicated that about 300 sample size of the drugs will undergo control trial in order to meet the standard of Wealth Health Organization (WHO) before it can be certified as an HIV/AIDS medicine.

“If we get 90% of the people cure then it means this is a cure. I am a scientist who studied medicine and conducted an independent research. I was looking for a cure because no university in the world has done that” he said.

He, however, debunked the assertion that management of COA are using the media in deceiving the public that it had a cure for AIDS.

“Some people feel there should be no cure for HIV. They don’t even want it. They don’t want to believe it. There are others who believe but they want to make money from it” he stressed.

This notwithstanding, Dr. Ato Duncan said he is working hard to ensure the AIDS drugs to approved for use by 2020.

“Before you come out with a drug, you go through a lot but some people don’t know and have started accusing us of destroying the system with our medicine. We will get a cure for AIDS in 2020 and so Ghanaians should get ready” he indicated.
