Avoiding any form of cancer is far better than trying to treat it after it has occurred. However, prostate cancer is usually a slow-growing form of cancer that responds well to treatment.
The first step in preventing prostate cancer is improving your overall health. The weight should be within the normal range for your height. If you are severely overweight, seek advice from your doctor and eat a healthy diet low in fat and sugar. Combining this with daily exercise like walking and swimming should help.
Drink plenty of water – Water is vital to health. It prevents hunger and flushes toxins from the body. Six to eight glasses a day are ideal, not counting tea and coffee!
Reduce alcohol. There’s nothing wrong with the occasional drink, just don’t make it a daily habit.
Lycopene – Found primarily in tomatoes, it is an antioxidant that has been shown to have positive effects on prostate health. Studies have shown that men who consume large doses of lycopene have a much lower incidence of prostate cancer.
Lycopene is not destroyed by cooking, so it’s found in tomato sauce, tomato paste, and all your favorite Italian dishes!
Isoflavones in soybeans and their products such as soy milk or tofu have a balancing effect on the body’s hormones. Isoflavones can counteract excess testosterone, which can lead to prostate cancer.
Beta-carotene, found in carrots and other brightly colored vegetables, can stimulate helper T cells, which prevent cancer from developing.
Selenium is an extremely important micronutrient that is only required in tiny amounts. Selenium can be found in certain foods, but soils in many areas of the world are deficient in this mineral and food cannot absorb this mineral. Supplements are beneficial in this case.
Last but not least, a person’s mental makeup can directly affect the health of the body. Emotions like anger, stress and depression can damage the immune system and lead to diseases like cancer or heart problems.
Try to let go of those harmful emotions. Do relaxation exercises or learn yoga or qigong. Qigong is a wonderful collection of Chinese breathing exercises that can heal physical or emotional illnesses and allow you to experience great health.
Therefore, certain dietary changes, taking nutritional supplements, and positive emotions can help prevent prostate cancer or any other form of cancer.
