I’ve heard the name ketosis diet many times, I’m sure some of you have heard it too. But do you know exactly what it is? Do you know its dangers and advantages? So let me tell you all about it.
The ketosis diet is a diet based on a state of the human body called ketosis. Ketosis occurs when the body is deprived of carbohydrates and begins to rely on protein, fat, and muscle for energy. In other words, a ketosis diet is a low-carb/no-carb diet.
In this state, the brain tells your body to reserve glucose for emergencies only. This is because the brain understands that it’s not getting enough glucose because you’re not eating enough carbohydrates. So, as every dieter hopes, the brain begins to use fat stores for all of its immediate energy needs. Sounds good right?
What I haven’t told you is that ketosis is treated as a physical crisis by much of the medical community. So read on before you start a ketosis diet. The state of carbohydrate deficiency is not only dangerous, but is considered a physical crisis. That will be enough to make me ban this diet for life. But if it’s not enough for you, look at the side effects.
The basic side effects of a ketosis diet are constant tiredness and general fatigue and similar bodily dysfunctions caused by simply not having enough glucose in the body. Aside from that, it can cause life-threatening liver damage and muscle tissue destruction. I’m sure you don’t want any of this. But wait, there’s more.
Considering the effects of a ketosis diet, you most likely won’t be able to follow even the most basic exercise program. And as we all know, exercise is an important part of losing weight. So you’re constantly tired, you can’t exercise because you don’t have enough energy, you have many restrictions on what you can and can’t eat, and your body uses your fat as a last resort for an energy source.
Ladies and gentlemen, that’s called starvation. Starvation is a type of disease in many ways. This disease can cause long-term damage to your body and also interfere with future dieting efforts. Please, before you start a new “promising” diet – think it over very carefully. All in all, the ketosis diet is not a very pleasant process.
You have so many alternatives, so many healthy diets that offer a better lifestyle. You should not succumb to a harsh and dangerous ketosis diet.
