Why Your Diet Will Help Cure Your Vitiligo

You are what you eat. We’ve heard this saying for years. This is especially true for Vitiligo sufferers. For many, it seems far-fetched to think that the skin condition they suffer from is somehow tied to their diet. However, experts have made the correlation and found that changing your diet can cure Vitiligo.

If you eat a lot of processed foods, you’re likely to experience worse breakouts than a person who doesn’t eat these types of foods. Processed foods are not rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are helpful in fighting diseases and ailments. Also, fast foods are high in fats, which tend to wear down the body and cause “stress” on the body. Scientists have discovered that food allergies can contribute to vitiligo outbreaks. Well, different allergies do different things to the body. Some allergies cause skin breakouts, while others affect the respiratory system. However, all of these allergic reactions will “stress” the body and cause new vitiligo outbreaks or exacerbate existing ones. Other things to consider when thinking about your diet are: Do you eat spicy foods regularly?

If you find you need to adjust your diet, there are several things you can do. Eat more tofu and drop food straight into cocoa. Try to limit your gluten intake as much as possible. Cut down on the spicy foods you eat. Consult a nutritionist. You go about your eating habits. They will likely test you for specific food allergies. If you test positive for certain foods, the nutritionist will offer you alternative foods to replace the foods you are allergic to.

Now that you’ve eliminated any foods that might be causing additional breakouts, it’s time to add some foods that may aid you in your fight against Vitiligo. Fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of antioxidants. Antioxidants are important to rid the body of free radicals. I’m not entirely sure what free radicals are, but I know we don’t want them.

People suffering from vitiligo will do just about anything to restore pigmentation to their skin. So we expect that most will adapt if they find that a Dietary changes can cure Vitiligo. While we cannot guarantee that your Vitiligo will go away as a result of dietary changes, we can assure you that a healthier body will experience less stress. Less stress on the body usually means less severe breakouts; or none at all. The best gift of all is when you can look in the mirror and see your vitiligo go away. This is the best formula of all: healthier eating + less vitiligo = SMILE!
